Vibe is a magazine, it was launched in 1993 which is recent compared to Q and NME, by Quincy Jones.
The main features of the music is R&B, Hip Hop music, actors, artists and other entertainers.
The magazine is issued monthly, with an audience of more young hip hop followers.
The magazines close competitors are The Source, XXL, Rolling stones and Spin.
Vibe is another music magazine where i believe the target audience maybe more to the female audience. I believe this as the front cover is in pinks and the website vibe.com is also in pinks and purples.
In the magazine the things that are included weekly is a main attraction for example on opposite is Janet Jackson, three to six other side stories, the back page list - 20 quesiones - a celebrity gossip column and new profiles of artists and coming up artists. The magazine also has a section on new clothes and sportswear by urban labels.
Since 2003 the magazine have put on their own annual awards with Vibe awards.
Mary J. Blige has repeatedly made the front cover, but other features have been Beyonce, T.I, Marieh Carey, Ciara and obviously lots more.
The magazine above is an example of a Vibe magazine with the backing of the magazine in a shade of white and the title of the magazine doesn't stand out amazingly well but is pink which connates that the audience could be more female.
There are some bits of the magazine such as "the untold story," which are in black and bold to stand out to the audience that this magazine has an story that people haven't seen before so much buy their magazine to hear it. This story is written at the very top so when people are looking on the shelf they can see that part of the magazine and the title of it.
The NME magazine stands for new musical express. It is published weekly in the UK since March 1952. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, which first appeared in the 14 November 1952 edition. The magazine also has NME awards, NME Tours and NME TV and Radio.
The editor of the magazine is Conor McNicohlas and is published by IPC Media which is one of UK's biggest selling publishers.
There is aslo a NME website so people can visit online as well.
This magazine is targeted at a different audience with each magazine, this one is more of a punk rock one but some in the past haven't been this way.
The magazine opposite is also in red white and black with yellow showing some upcoming news this week.
The title is bold red with a white outline to make this bold and people to see the magazine is called that at the top as it stands out well. The rest of the magazine is then tied in with the title. The main feature of the magazine is in white with the red bold underneath.
The other features of the magazine is down the side in red with a bit of black underneath them to outline the story.
Inside the magazine is offers and things to win online, which promotes their website and encourages people to visit it, which gets people more interactive online.
Q music magazine is printed monthly in the UK. The first published Q magazine was in 1986 by a company called Bauer Verlagsgruppe, which is a large german publishing company situated in Hamburg. The editor of the magazine is Paul Rees former editor of the magazine Kerrang.
Q magazine has a website which is www.qthemusic.com, so the readers can also become interactive with the magazine. There is also a Q television show, which is shown in the UK and Q also holds a yearly ceremony called the Q awards. Another thing Q has to keep the audience interactive is have a radio station called Q Radio.
The magazine has a something called "The Spine Line" which is for the readers which will try to work out and read before the magazines to tell them what is inside the magazine before actually reading it.
The magazine front cover is quite bold and uses three main colours, red, black and white. This is done in most of the front covers to make it consecutive.
The magazine has an extensive review section including; new releases of music, music compilations, film and live concert reviews and also radio and television reviews. Even though the main focus in most magazines produced including the one opposite is an interview with a popular music artist it still includes other information such as offers, quizzes and then other smaller interviews with groups.
With the magazine there is often a promotional offer, with the one opposite there is an offer of an other magazine for women showing that the target audience isn't just males but is females as well. This helps tell us that the target audience is for both genders.
Q is widely read by a huge vast audience of different styles, it can be read by both genders and a huge arrange of ages.
